Bamboobies Review {Giveaway}

When I had James, I knew I wanted to breastfeed him... for how long I did not know. I thought I would give it a go and see how I felt about it.

Turns out we both loved it enough to go for almost 16 months.

When we discovered we were pregnant with Graham I was very excited to get to nurse again. What I wasn't looking forward to was using the nursing pads I had. I used disposable ones, but they made me itch and irritated my skin. I also bought some other cloth ones but they slid around in my bra, and also they showed through ..ie: you could tell I had nursing pads on. UNSIGHTLY!

When I heard about Bamboobies, I knew I wanted to give them a try once Graham was born. Lucky me, I needed to start to use them even before he was born. (I started leaking around 23 weeks!)

I contacted Bamboobies, and they were more than happy to send me a pair to test out. I must say, they are SO SOFT & LUXURIOUS!

About Bamboobies:

Armed with a business degree, an entrepreneurial background and exciting products and mission, I've taken off running... I've started other businesses, but I've never felt so committed and excited.

Nursing my children for the last 4+ years has enabled me to develop great products -- and has kept me grounded. I didn't have an easy time breastfeeding in the beginning and I hope to help others with the new challenges of motherhood as others have helped me.

Hearing that Bamboobies helped a new mother's cracked nipple heal -- that a woman felt she could continue to nurse because of our products makes my day!

I haven't done it alone:

My thanks goes out to all the new-mom testers, our seamstresses, our sales and marketing team, our first retailers, our lactation consultants, our fellow mom-preneur pals and my ever-supportive husband and family.

Designing the perfect bamboobies and nursing wraps with fun, hip marketing has been challenging, but we've finally done it!

Bamboobies were born out of necessity - 'the mother of invention!'
After breastfeeding for a few months, I was still leaking sometimes... I even leaked through the thick washable cotton pads. I was tired of looking like I had round targets on my chest where the pads showed through my shirt. Disposables also showed wrinkles and just created too much trash. And disposables get very expensive!
So one day I decided, just because it was handy, to stuff a washable diaper wipe into my bra - it felt great, but it looked funny and was far from perfect. It was made of organic bamboo velour so it was deliciously soft and wicked and absorbed like a great pad should. I'd never felt anything so soft!
A year into product development and prototyping with different fabrics and designs, we have settled on a couple of unique breast pad designs that mothers love.

When I received my package, I right away threw them into the wash. I needed to test them out ASAP. I washed and dried them, then started my review.

First off, the regular Bamboobies are made up of, Bamboo velour: 70% bamboo rayon, 28% OCIA certified organic cotton, 2% polyester. 55% hemp, 45% GOTS certified organic cotton & Polyester with urethane waterproofing. The Bamboo on your nipples is heavenly. It doesn't irritate my skin and is so so soft. Even more soft after multiple washings. The no leak backing is great. I don't have to worry about embarrassing leaks when out and about.

I love the shape of them. The cute heart shape molds to your breast, making for a smooth look. There is no bunching, or crinkling. You know what I mean if you wear disposable nursing pads. It sounds like you have a diaper on your chest!

I also love that they have a few different color choices. Light Pink, Hot Pink and Black. I will most likely match the color of my Bamboobies to the color of bra I am wearing ie: White - Light Pink, Black - Black and my Nude bra - Hot pink! Is that weird?

How they worked for me:

Before Graham: Bamboobies kept me dry during the weeks before Graham was born. I was leaking colostrum from about 23 weeks on, so when I received the pads I was thankful that I didn't have to wear disposable pads out anymore. I also wasn't worried about having lines show through my shirt, and the best part was I could wash em and reuse them!

After Graham: Graham is a boobie monster. My milk came in about 2 days after he was born, and he made sure he had a good supply! During the day I used my old cloth pads, but at night I wore my Bamboobies, and have not had any leaking issues with the regular ones. I wake up dry, and not irritated. One pair is definitely not enough - but I did have a friend gift me a couple of pairs! So now I have three pairs to rotate throughout the day - and since I am doing laundry EVERY day they get washed every day!

*Bamboobies had a sale on their old style nursing pads and I took advantage of that sale. I bought the six pack (3 pairs of regular Bamboobies and 3 pairs of the overnights) I am really looking forward to testing out the overnights. They look super soft, and thirsty.*

I'm almost 3 weeks post partum and I have an abundance of milk. Graham loves to nurse, so I leak like a leaky faucet. Especially at night now, since he goes between 3-4 hours during nursing at night.  But again, no leaks whatsoever when wearing my pads. I am not irritated, I do not get a rash, and I am confident when going out. Bamboobies are really the best nursing pad on the market that I know of.

I really wish I would have known about Bamboobies with James. But I am super glad I found them with Graham. I will never wear another pair of disposable pads again. Not after wearing Bamboobies!
