Cough due to cold...

So last week C and I both had a cold. It's so rare for C to get sick, so when he says he's not feeling well, then I know he really isn't feeling well. He had a head cold, blocked sinuses, runny nose the whole shebang! I was praying that I wouldn't catch it...BUT I woke the next morning with a sore throat and well, needless to say we both had colds.

I am a miserable person when I am sick. I hate it, with a passion. But after J was born I tried SO hard to make sure that he didn't catch it, and in his 13 months of life he has only had a cough ONCE! And it was recent (like this year 2011) Knock on wood. So I was hoping that he wouldn't catch it. FAIL!!

I was woken up in the middle of the night to the baby monitor lights going crazy as J was in his bedroom coughing up a lung. It didn't sound bad at first so I went in to check on him, he was back asleep and that's all I heard till the next morning. He had a slight cough. Nothing croupy or 'a bark like' cough, just your standard cough. I let it go a couple of days and then his nose started to run. YUCK! He hates when you get near his nose, so using an aspirator was out of the question. Well his nose continues to runs, his cough is still there but it is not getting worse.

Tonight was the first time he has had a fever  of 100.8. Scared me so much, but he is still his happy go lucky self. Thank GOD!! We gave him a warm bath followed by a steam session and he went to bed no problems. J loves his food, and for the past few days his appetite is not there. I just feel so bad for my little man. But he's a trooper, and I know he'll get better soon. I'm just a worried first time mommy.

Well that's that! HA!

My little Canuck!

On Sunday we had our family photo shoot. We had them done when J was 6 months old and I wanted to do them again for his 1 year birthday, but our photographer (Mrs.J) was totally booked! So, we opted for a '13 month' shoot.

When we had our pictures take in the summer (July 2010) I decided we should all be in light blue shirts and khaki shorts. I love how they turned out. We were down in Burns Bog (one of my hubby's favorite spots). We had glorious weather and J was a great sport. This time around, I knew J wouldn't mind the shoot as he loves the camera (and also looking at his own pictures) We decided to take them at my MIL house. They have a great front yard as well as a great backyard.

When I got up that morning I was SO SO happy that the sun was shining, but it was still pretty cold. I didn't have a 'picture worthy' sweater for J, or C to be perfectly honest so I needed to come up with a 'theme'..hmmm, BAM it hit me! Let's do a 'Canucks' theme. I knew we all had article of clothing that was Vancouver Canucks official.

So there, I decided that J would wear his Vintage 'Nucks jersey he got for his 1st Birthday (Thanks Uncie J!!), I have a Johnny Canuck shirt that C bought me when I got to go to my very first EVER Vancouver Game (that was in 2010) and then I got to C.. hmmm I know he's got a hat, but that's it. UGH!!! Off to Wal Mart we went!!

SCORE!! We got him a shirt for $12.00!! Ahh I love a good deal. Anyways, the photo shoot went great. Mrs.J got some lovely shots and I cannot wait to see all the edited images once they are all done. She did provide me with some teaser photos. I think we all look pretty good. J is SO handsome and has changed quite a bit since July of last year... brings a tear to my eye but i love watching him grow and learn everyday!

Here's J at 6 months and again at 13 months.

Much love! xo

Oookay, this is what has been going on.. (kinda long..?)

Sooo...to start things off, I have some exciting news! No no, I'm not pregnant (although I'm ready for #2), I went back to work! Nothing full time. I don’t think I could handle that amount of time away from my son.

I am working part time (maybe 3 shifts a week, for 4-6 hours) and I am working at a baby boutique in the mall! I am so excited about it! I was asked to come in for an interview at the beginnging of the month, and went to meet with the owner. I have never really worked retail, my last jobs we office jobs and working in a restaurant. So I was a little nervous that you hinder my chances.

I should note that, I had gone in prior to sending in my resume. I went and bought a new diaper (FB) and spoke with the owner (let's call her M) about any open opportunities. I went home and resent my resume.

I went in for an interview and spoke with three different people (and a rep for a new Baltic Amber teething company). Let's say, it was one of the longest interviews I have ever done) the first person I spoke to (we will call her A) asked general questions about myself and my knowledge. I felt like it was more of a "let's try to get to know you a little, and see if you will 'fit' well in the community' She was very nice and I felt comfortable talking to her. This went on for about 40 minutes. After she left for the night, I met with the other owner (We will call him Mr. T). Our conversation lasted about 30 minutes. I finally got to speak with M. By this time I felt like I could do the job that they needed me to do. Ok to make a long story short, I was offered the job and my first shift was in two days. Needless to say, I was super excited and totally nervous, but now I am so happy that I have this.

Don't get me wrong. I love staying home with J, but I needed something that I could do - away from our home. So, that’s that. I am now a part time stay at home mom, and so far, it’s been great!!

Much love!

Holy Poop! I won!!

Ok so I know I haven't been around on MY blog for a while now. And I feel bad, so today, I am going to blog blog blog! With pictures!

First off I just have to do a little happy dance. In the last week I have won a bunch of stuff. Who doesn't love winning!! Two weeks ago I won a FREE pair of BearPaw Boots from FREESHOESFRIDAY on twitter (btw, I LOVE THEM) I also have won a couple of diapers (Last night I won a Blissful Botty dipe for J - I really REALLY wanted to try them before I bought some more, yay!) And then this morning I woke up, checked my email and found out that I won the GoGreen Pocket Diapers giveaway at Soleil Selene! I think there were 1200+ comments..and I won!!

I will receive, 2 diapers, a wet bag and 25 cloth wipes. Along with a 25.00 giftcard! How cool is that!! I am just so happy right now!!

Anyways, I will be back later to sum up what's been going on around the Duncan household. That includes our day trip to my hometown Penticton...
