SO GLAD I DID!
Nellie believed in honesty, simplicity, and saying like it is. And it is these beliefs that Nellie's All-Natural to develop a line of non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and environmentally friendly cleaning products that reduce consumption and allow you to only use what is needed.
What I love about Nellie's All-Natural is, that it gets the job done - and you do not have to use a ton of product to achieve cleanliness. For any regular sized load of diapers (about 2 days worth) I use two scoops of soda and Graham's diapers come out looking clean and smelling fresh. If we happen to go an extra day or so, I soak everything overnight with a scoop in hot water then launder as usual. After that, CLEAN! Chris' work clothes get dirty - sometimes downright nasty. But Nellie's gets everything clean and takes away any lingering odor. Again I usually use 2 scoops for his clothes as they are heavily soiled.
Another great thing about Nellie's is that it can be used in cold OR hot water. SCORE! Plus it rinses thoroughly and doesn't leave your clothes stiff thus no irritation.
The boys and myself have sensitive skin, and we have never had any issues using Nellie's. In fact, I have pretty much stopped using all other detergents and now exclusively use Nellie's All-Natural.
Ingredients: Sodium Silicate and Coconut Oil based detergents. It's biodegradable, non-toxic and hypoallergenic. *
SODA ASH - (SODIUM CARBONATE) also known as washing soda. In domestic use, it's used as a water softener during laundry.
SODIUM METASILICATE - A major use is as a builder (a material that enhances or maintains the cleaning efficiency of a surfactant, principally by inactivating water hardness) in soaps and detergents
SODIUM CHLORIDE - Sodium chloride, also known as common salt, table salt, or halite. As well as the familiar uses of salt in cooking, salt is used in many applications, from manufacturing pulp and paper to setting dyes in textiles and fabric, to producing soaps and detergents.
CITRIC ACID - This is a weak organic acid. It serves as an environmentally benign cleaning agent and acts as an antioxidant.
The Detergent is a coconut based (LAURYL) Ethoxylated fatty alcohol. Coconut oil on its own will wash nothing. It is therefore chemically modified so that it becomes surface active and thus performs like a detergent. This commodity is widely used by many detergent manufacturers because it is readily biodegradable, non toxic and mild and efficient. It is also NOT Petroleum based.
Nellie's All Natural is also cost effective. For a 50 load bag it's around $9.99 USD. That's about .20 cents per load - for me - I can get a Tin of Nellie's - 150 loads for $17.99 at my local London Drugs. Sometimes I luck out and it's on sale - when that happens I buy two!
My overall experience using Nellie's has been a VERY positive one. I highly recommend Nellie's All-Natural to anyone who wants to use an all natural, non-toxic SUPER POWERED soda. Use it on your day to day laundry, cloth diapers, or even hubby's stinky work clothes. I am a Nellie's user for life.
