Cutting teeth has been easy for J (I hate to brag about it, but it is true...he breezes right through it.) Sure there are some days where he is a little more clingy than usual but he's not a grump pants or anything like that.
When we (C and I) first noticed that J was teething we were giving him frozen washcloths but he never liked the 'coldness' of them. So we decided to try the Hylands Teething Tablets. We only gave them to him at bed time as when his first bottom tooth was coming up he was very irritable. But only at night! So we gave him one tablet at bedtime. After the recall (I have no idea if it was just for the States but I threw mine out anyways) we decided to go with the Camilla Drops. Easy peasy right? We gave him one dose at bedtime, and it worked like a charm.
After reading the ingredients on the drops I just had to look up what belladonna was: There was a couple of lines that I read on Wiki that made me toss them out immediately.
Taken from Wikipedia:
Belladonna is one of the most toxic plants found in the Western hemisphere. All parts of the plant contain tropane alkaloids. The berries pose the greatest danger to children because they look attractive and have a somewhat sweet taste. The consumption of two to five berries by children and ten to twenty berries by adults can be lethal. The root of the plant is generally the most toxic part, though this can vary from one specimen to another. Ingestion of a single leaf of the plant can be fatal to an adult.
With that being said I wanted to find an alternative teething remedy.
I was hearing about Baltic Amber and said to C one night.."what a load of crap. How is a necklace going to help with teething??" C just laughed and shrugged it off. I kept looking up reviews to see what others were saying about Baltic Amber. Some reviews were good others were bad. It seemed to work for some but not for others.
What is Baltic Amber?
Taken from Inspired By Finn:
Baltic Amber is not a stone, but a fossilized tree resin. Historically, is has been used as a natural and transitional remedy and curative for many ailments for centuries. When Baltic amber is worn on the skin, the skin's warmth releases trace amounts of healing oils from the amber.
Baltic amber has some if the highest concentrations of Succinic Acid found in nature.
I decided to give it a try, but there are SO many companies these days offering Baltic Amber and they are not cheap. I decided on an Inspired by Finn teething necklace in Rainbow round for J. They were having a great sale on and I can never pass up a sale..better yet it was an item that I was wanting to try.
Shipping to Canada took about two weeks and when I received it, I instantly put it on J. They say that it takes about a week for you to see a difference, but I noticed J was calmer at bed within a few days. I allowed him to wear it during the day but took it off at night as just a precaution. He didn't play with it at all, which surprised me. I thought he would have been all over it. But no, he leaves it alone. (I don't even think he knows he is wearing it)
J has been wearing his IBF (Inspired by Finn) for going on 6 months, and he has cut 8 teeth with minimal discomfort. I recently found a molar that has cut through the gums. And I didn't even know it. I love the amber necklace and plan on getting myself one (when I have the funds lol) I let all my new mommy friends know to try it out, you never know if it will work for you unless you try.

Thank you IBF for making a great natural teething remedy. I cannot thank you enough!!
My little man now has 8 teeth (four on the top, and four on the bottom) and there are 2 more on their way up! I have to credit the Baltic Amber for doing it's job. I am so glad that I found a natural way to help my little man with the pain of teething.
Much love
xoxo
p.s. If you go on over to IBF facebook page they are having a sale on right now (April 7) for their facebook fans. 40% off all children's teething jewelry!! Hurry up, stock WILL NOT LAST LONG!!
